Meeting Notes from November 15th

We started off our meeting with a devotional by Amanda and then Lori C. showed off her beautiful mess. We joined in prayer before breakfast.

Amanda and Jennifer brought the printed Word Art that we worked on at the last meeting.  We also worked on a couple of different crafts. We made some beautiful ornaments – just check them out! We worked on a beautiful decoration that we made from wrapping paper.  And we helped create ornaments for the Christmas background for our upcoming Christmas Photo Fundraiser.  Of course, we also got to spend lots of time catching up while we crafted.

Our meeting times always seem to pass so fast. We ended our meeting with our prayer circle sharing joys and concerns.

Meeting Notes for 10/18/2013

Sometimes it’s the social meetings that are my favorite! I really enjoy talking with everyone and getting to know you all. Thank you!

Wordle Logan

Today we talked about connecting with our kids. Jennifer opened the meeting with a devotional about her story becoming a mom. It was a lovely, personal story from a perspective we don’t often hear about. If you missed it, you should ask Jennifer about it sometime. She offered up these two verses that are special to her:

Philippians 4:6-7

Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 13:5-6

Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have; for he has said, “I will never leave you for forsake you.” So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?”

Lisa shared her Messy photo. It was a photo of her older two children playing together and toys in the background. She told us about how they have been playing nicely together lately and how even though things get messy with toys everywhere, she really enjoys seeing them play together and use their imaginations. Her photo is on our MOPS bulletin board if you’d like to check it out.

We, of course, enjoyed our breakfast provided by Debbie’s group – fruit, veggies and dip, egg dishes, homemade fancy bread – yum!

Discussion time was our main activity. We talked about the personality types of our children, how they feel most loved and how we use our time to stay connected with our kids.

We then used notecards to write down words to describe our children. The Leadership Team will use Wordle to make word collages and pass them out at the next meeting. See the sample at the top of this post. 🙂

Operation Christmas Child will be our activity for our next meeting. A sign up sheet was passed around to donate items. We will be filling 10 boxes!!! Thank you to Lisa, Jennifer and Amanda for donating the shipping costs for 5 extra boxes! If you missed the sign up, no worries, a Sign Up Genius will be sent out as a reminder and to sign up for any remaining items.

Amanda briefly talked about the open positions on the Leadership Team – Speaker Coordinator, MOPPETS Coordinator, and Creative Activities. We have a new Creative Activities Leader! Angela will be joining the team!!!

We ended in our Prayer and Praise Circle.

Our meetings seem to go by so quickly! We have lots of events coming up – make sure you put them on your calendar! Hope to see you there!

Meeting Notes for 09/20/13

Another great meeting and another new mom! Yay! We just love adding to our group!

We started out with a devotional shared by Amanda and Angela shared her Messy Photo. I’m really loving hearing about everyone’s Beautiful Messes!

We enjoyed a lovely brunch provided by Group 1 and while eating we chatted over some M&M’s. Each mom took a spoonful of M&M’s and shared something for each color (Brown-family, Blue-yourself, Red-hobby, Green-where you grew up, and Yellow-anything you wanted, hmm Orange was missing).

We then watched the Controlling Your Mess: Controlling Your Emotions video by Lisa TerKeurst on our MOPS DVD. She is a great speaker! And we had lots to talk about afterwards.

Glass Marble MagnetsWhile we were chatting about the video we did a simple craft. We made glass marble magnets. Didn’t they turn out so nice? Super easy too! While we were finishing up our craft, Jennifer was able to take some photos for our Photo Directory. If you didn’t get your photo taken at the meeting, be “photo ready” for the next meeting. We’ll want to get our Photo Directory out to everyone ASAP! Good thing we’re multi-taskers!

Our meeting seemed to fly by so quickly (as they always do). We ended with our Prayer and Praise Circle where we shared announcements of upcoming dates and prayer requests.

Mom’s Night Out – Monday, Sept. 30th at 8 PM at Lisa’s House for Bunco! Don’t know how to play? No problem! Lisa will give us a lesson! Please RSVP in your evite so we know how many people to expect.

October Play Date – Porter’s Orchard (Date/Time – TBD)

October Family Event – Our MOPS favorite activity! We normally have a hay ride, pick out pumpkins, and have hot dogs and s’mores! We’re working out the details! You’ll have them soon!

Trunk-or-Treat – Sunday, Oct. 27th at 4:20 at the church. Come early to decorate your trunk! The Youth Group hosts a Halloween Party for kids (must be potty trained) and they come out to Trunk-or-Treat around the parking lot. We invite the whole church to join us. We’re the hosts and give out prizes for the best trunk!! The kids vote on their favorite.

November Fundraiser – We’re working on an awesome fundraiser! We’re planning a photo booth fundraiser! Mark your calendars for November 16th. More details coming soon!

We have sign up sheets out at every meeting for hosting play dates, Mom’s Nights Out and to share your Messy Photo.  If you missed them and want to sign up, contact any member of the Leadership Team.

Our next meeting is Friday, October 4th – see you there!
